π¨ SCAM ALERT - Please Share to Protect Others! π¨

I almost fell for a scam today and want to warn everyone. Someone contacted me on WhatsApp claiming to be from the "IMF Fund Foundation" offering FREE MONEY ($5,000-$500,000) as a grant program. They said people are selected "electronically through Facebook" and that it's a tax write-off scheme for Fortune 500 companies.
β THIS IS 100% FAKE β
Here's what I learned:

π΄ The REAL International Monetary Fund (IMF) does NOT give grants to individuals - they only work with governments
π΄ If someone contacts you unsolicited asking for your CashApp, Venmo, or bank info - IT'S A SCAM
π΄ These scammers often hack Facebook accounts and message you from "friends" to seem trustworthy
π΄ They may show "proof" of payments or share fake testimonials
π΄ The explanation about tax write-offs is designed to sound believable
β οΈ RED FLAGS TO WATCH FOR:
β’ Unsolicited contact on WhatsApp/Facebook Messenger
β’ Promises of free money from government organizations
β’ Requests for personal payment app information
β’ Pressure to act quickly
β’ Claims that "everyone is getting this grant"
π‘ HOW I CAUGHT IT:
I used AI (Claude) to research the claim, and within seconds it found official IMF warnings about these exact scams. People have lost THOUSANDS of dollars to these fraudsters.
β WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE CONTACTED:
1. Do NOT share any personal or financial information
2. Block the person immediately
3. Report them to the platform (WhatsApp/Facebook)
4. If you're unsure, research it yourself or use AI tools to verify
5. Tell your friends and family - scammers target vulnerable people
Remember: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Legitimate organizations don't randomly select people through Facebook for cash grants.
